Resistant Weeds

Weed resistance is a growing problem. We need to protect the tools we have and understand how to use them effectively.

  • Keep track of the weed types and pressure in your fields.

  • Make a plan of control early in the season; spraying early is the most effective method to control resistant weeds before they even come up.

  • Monitor your fields daily; making a second application before the weeds are taller than 4 inches is critical.

  • Use a residual herbicide to provide season-long control if possible.

When deciding what chemicals to use, understand the modes of action of each chemical and plan to use at least three to five different modes.
